Make Music Day 2025

Music-making and performing music with other people is an incredible feeling. It brings communities together and is hugely inspiring to watch. To celebrate making music, there is an annual music celebration called Make Music Day and it’s happening on Saturday 21st June!

What is Make Music Day?

It’s an annual music-making day on the summer solstice (21st June) to encourage people to play and sing music outside or in public places. Free concerts are planned so that everyone can enjoy music. It first took place in Paris in 1981 and takes place all over the world every year! Pretty cool! You can find out more on the Make Music Day UK website.

How can schools get involved?

Got a school orchestra, choir, school song or concert programme? Start planning your own event! You can register your event using this form. Remember to tag them on your social media! There are a few things to bear in mind:

  • The event needs to take place on 21st June.
  • It should be a free event and must feature music.
  • It needs to be hosted in a public place, e.g. your school playground. You can even host it online!
  • If you can’t host it on 21st June or in a public place (e.g. it needs to happen in the school hall), you can record it beforehand and premiere it on the day.
